Apple Vanilla Compote Organic

How much vanilla does it contain?

Zero point nine per cent vanilla extract, to 99.1% apple purée. The proportion is small but enough to scent the whole jar: the kazidomi.mompote keeps a dominant apple taste, carried on by a vanilla note at the finish. The vanilla used comes from fair trade sources.

Apple and vanilla or plain apple — which should I take?

The plain apple compote from Kazidomi holds only apple purée and serves as a neutral base in cooking. The vanilla version adds an extract that rounds off the acidity of the apple and brings it closer to a ready-made dessert. For cooking, binding a batter or replacing a fat, plain stays more versatile.

Is it a synthetic flavouring or real vanilla?

A vanilla extract from organic farming and fair trade sources. It is the only thing Kazidomi adds to the apple purée: no artificial flavouring, no sugar and no colouring completes the recipe. The list runs to two lines, which is unusual for a flavoured compote in a large jar.

How do I use the vanilla version?

By the spoonful, warm or cold, or alongside a rice pudding, fromage blanc, waffles and French toast. The Kazidomi apple and vanilla compote also replaces part of the fat in a yoghurt cake, where the vanilla note comes through after baking. The jar holds 915 g.

How long does it keep?

Before opening, several months in a cool, dry cupboard away from the light. Once the Kazidomi jar is open, the compote moves to the fridge and is eaten within five days. Using a clean spoon at every serving avoids introducing micro-organisms into what remains in the jar.
