Dried Tomatoes in Oil Organic

What is in this jar of sun-dried tomatoes?

Sun-dried tomatoes at 63%, sunflower oil, extra virgin olive oil, capers, wine vinegar, salt, garlic, oregano, parsley and basil, all from organic farming. Kazidomi sells them in a 190 g jar, the tomatoes having been dried in the sun in Italy rather than in an industrial drier.

Tomatoes in oil or dry sun-dried tomatoes sold loose?

The Kazidomi jar arrives ready: the tomatoes are already soft, marinated with capers, garlic and herbs, and go straight onto the plate. Dry sun-dried tomatoes sold loose by weight are leathery and want soaking in warm water or in a sauce before use. One saves a step, the other you season yourself.

How do I use them?

Drained and cut into strips, they fill out a salad, a bruschetta, a board of antipasti, a sandwich or a quiche. Blended with a little of their oil they make a red pesto for pasta. Kazidomi sun-dried tomatoes also lift a rice dish, a semolina or a soft cheese.

Can I reuse the oil from the jar?

Yes, it has taken on the taste of the tomatoes, the garlic and the herbs. Use it as the base of a dressing, or over hot pasta and roast vegetables. Just make sure the tomatoes still in the Kazidomi jar stay covered by oil, or they dry out in the fridge.

How long do they keep once opened?

Ten days in the fridge, tomatoes submerged in their oil and the jar properly closed. Before opening, the Kazidomi jar keeps somewhere cool and dry. The oil clouds and thickens when cold: that is ordinary behaviour for olive oil, and it clears again at room temperature.
