Lemon ginger or red fruits: which sparkling water do I choose?

The lemon ginger from Pulse Protein carries 3% lemon juice and 3% ginger juice: a tart profile with a peppery kick at the end. The red fruits version rests on raspberry juice and blackcurrant extract, rounder on the first sip. Same 330 ml container for both.

What is in this drink?

Sparkling water, 3.4% hydrolysed pea protein, cane sugar, lemon juice, ginger juice, natural flavourings, a broad bean extract and citric acid. The Pulse Protein drink is entirely plant-based and holds neither milk nor whey. It comes in 330 ml and is made in Belgium.

Does it need ice?

No. Take it out of the fridge cold and pour it as it is: ice waters down the lemon. The Pulse Protein lemon ginger sparkling water works after a session or in place of a soft drink. It can also be lengthened with still water when the ginger note feels too pronounced.

Why does the drink stay clear despite the protein?

Because the pea protein is hydrolysed: cut into shorter fragments, it dissolves in water without thickening or clouding the liquid. The Pulse Protein sparkling water therefore looks like a flavoured water, while carrying 3.4% protein. A faint deposit at the bottom of the container is normal.

How do I store it?

Away from light and heat, somewhere dry; simply move it to a cold spot a few hours before drinking. Once open, the Pulse Protein drink should be finished quickly: the gas escapes and the ginger note flattens out. A started container goes back in the fridge.
